Basketball officially arrived in Rocket League
-----------Basketball arrived in Rocket League
Psyonix has announced a Basketball mode for all three platforms on which their game is available.
"Rocket League Hoops is available to all game owners regardless of the platform on which they own the game (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)" - as was proudly announced by Psyonix' development team with a longer list of changes this free upgrade offers.
In addition to the mode in which you can play the automotive version of basketball, the developers have prepared an NBA Flag Pack which includes:
-NBA team flags.
-NBA official flag logo.
-The ability to save replies and name the files while playing.
-New arena and bug fixes.
As expected from the developers in Psyonix, the game contains a lot of neat touches, for example:
-The ball's color changes when it swaps sides on court.
-You can hear that good old sound of sneakers squeeking on polished wood courts when the cars turn.
-There's a narrator who screams 'SLAAAAAAAM DUUUUUUUUNK' every time a team scores.
Psyonix, the small gaming studio behind this game, has been working for a long time on the aforementioned move. Having ESL's support from the beginning has allowed them to organize their own Rocket League mini tournaments. MLG on the other hand, already organized Rocket League's first ever tournament, allowing players to win a humble 5 hundred dollars prize.
Psyonix are way more serious than that. In cooperation with Twitch, the most popular videogame streaming site, they have organized Rocket League Championship League (http://www.rocketleagueesports.com/?ed2f26df2d9c416fbddddd2330a778c6=wrcrtret-wrfrqqwf) which has a prize fond of 75 thousand dollars.
The official name for the mode is "Hoops". At the time, only 2v2 matches can be played. Even though it's free, you still need to pay a small amount of money for the extra cosmetic items from the NBA flag packs.
