Crysis and Crysis 2 PC Multiplayer Shutting Down
-----------Crytek has confirmed both games will no longer be playable online after May 31 as a result of GameSpy's shutdown.
The PC versions of Crysis and Crysis 2 will no longer support online multiplayer, developer Crytek announced on the game's forums. This is a result of the closure of GameSpy's online matching client, where as the console versions and Crysis 3 will remain unaffected.
"As of May 31 this year, the multiplayer modes in Crysis and Crysis 2 for PC will no longer be playable," Crytek said. "The single-player campaigns in both games are unaffected by this transition."
"We'd like to thank everyone who has taken up arms in Crysis and Crysis 2's multiplayer modes in the last few years, and apologize to the small but dedicated community of PC players who are still actively competing against one another," Crytek added.
GameSpy's upcoming shutdown will affect many games, though Electronic Arts has promised to find other means to keep old Battlefield games playable online after May 31.
