Destiny Receives Its Last Patch for PS3 and Xbox 360

-----------
.....

Bungie has officially released the final patch for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of its sci-fi shooter Destiny.

In order to make preparations for the upcoming Rise of Iron expansion, Destiny developers, Bungie released its 2.3.1 update, which causes the exotic Warlock helmet Apotheosis Veil to now show up in the exotic armor blueprints kiosk in the Hall of Guardians in the Tower, including fixes to some issues with classes as well as activities.

In fact, the patch gives a relatively small return in terms of being an update, but it's important because of the fact that it's going to be last one offered for Destiny's PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ports. Bungie has posted an official statement on its website that apart from any immediate emergencies that require urgent fixes for future game breaking bugs, the 2.3.1 patch for Destiny is planned to be the last scheduled deployment for Legacy Consoles.

In other words, Guardians on the PS3 and Xbox 360 won't receive any more major expansions like Rise of Iron, as the studio has mentioned earlier this year that the action RPG on last generation platforms won't be getting any more content. At the moment, those who play Destiny on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 and want to experience Rise of Iron's content such as its new raid and Gjallarhorn quest will have to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of the game.

The jump to current generation consoles will not only give Guardians access to the fresh materials, but it'll also give them the ability to continue the existing progress with their characters. It's worth noting, though, that if fans decide to upgrade, they'll need to stay inside the same family of systems for their Guardians to be maintained, as Destiny's data on Xbox 360 won't transfer to the PS4 port, for example.

Destiny is currently available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
