Overwatch Competitive Play Now Available on Xbox One & PC

-----------
.....

A short time after the new mode was launched on PC, Blizzard decides to release ranked Competitive Play for the Xbox One version of Overwatch a week ahead of schedule.

Earlier this week when ranked Competitive Play launched on the PC version of Overwatch, console gamers were promised that they need to wait an extra week before they can enjoy the new game mode. Seems like the wait is now finally over for Xbox One users.

Competitive Play is now available on the console, followed by a substantial patch, just in time for the long Independence Day weekend. Competitive Play will unlock a new game mode for players that reach level 25, as well as the opportunity to access exclusive new content. For instance, golden weapons are eventually going to be added for every hero in the game, which can be purchased by using the currency that is only obtainable from Competitive Play.

In addition to Competitive Play, this update will also address some remaining issues with the console version of the game. It nerfs McCree and Widowmaker, which makes those characters equal with their PC counterparts, and it also removes a number of bugs. Players will discover other tweaks implemented in the update as well, like the new Weapons section that's been added to the Hero Gallery, and the removal of the Avoid This Player functionality from the game's UI.

The patch seems like it's making the Xbox One version of Overwatch to be more or less equal with the PC version of the game. Differences are still there, such as Torbjorn's nerf on consoles but not on PC, but mostly it seems as though there's more consistency between other versions of the game now.

When Blizzard launches Competitive Play across all its available platforms, the company should be able to move forward with some substantial new content for Overwatch.
