PS4 & Xbox One Version of DayZ Still on the Way
-----------Creative director of DayZ, Brian Hicks confirmed that the PS4 and Xbox One versions aren't dead, however 99 percent of the team is concentrated on developing the PC version.
Even though progress on DayZ for consoles has been less than stellar, as in November 2015, a developer from Bohemia Interactive said that the console prototypes had been postponed in to 2016. Gamers on consoles have been especially worried as a result, but Bohemia recently confirmed that is definitely working on bringing DayZ to PS4 and Xbox One and that the project isn't dead.
In an interview for Eurogamer, the game's creative director Brian Hicks stated that "no it's not dead at all" before emphasizing again "it's not dead at all." Hicks said that the reason for not sharing any news about DayZ on PS4 and Xbox One is because "99 percent" of the team in Bohemia is working on the PC version of the game, also calling PC its "flagship" platform.
Furthermore, Hicks reveals, "We can't really move DayZ over to these platforms, at least on a playable level for consumers, until the base engine, Enfusion, is finished." Essentially, console development won't fully start until 2017, with an Xbox Game Preview launch being considered (it seems that a PS4 early access release is also being looked at, though Sony has not yet presented such a program).
While the delay can certainly be disappointing for those who wanted to try out the MMO on consoles, it's definitely not a huge shock either. DayZ has been available through Steam Early Access for nearly three years and PC players are getting even more restless as to when the game will be finished.
Judging by a previously released DayZ roadmap, a full release on PC was anticipated in early 2016. However, considering the game has missed that deadline by miles, it's understandable that Bohemia would postpone the console versions in order to do right by its large and preexisting PC player base.
