Ready at Dawn's New Game To Be Revealed Next Week
-----------Ready at Dawn, developers of The Order 1886 and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, are going to announce a new game next week. It will be GameStop's second publishing project.
The news broke during a GameStop earnings call, when COO Tony Bartel said “Next week, we will be announcing our second game under development, with Ready at Dawn.”
Bartel is talking with investors, but not with those most interested in the game itself. Bartel has also clarified that retailers would see the return of both physical copies of the game and digital copies, rather than boxes sold at the counter. He mentioned potential profits as well from collectibles and toys if the game ends up having those.
Ready at Dawn is an independent studio that has up until now worked with Sony almost exclusively. Five out of six Ready at Dawn games are PlayStation console exclusives, ranging from Daxter to God of War: Ghost of Sparta. What led to a breakup with Sony and the new partnership with GameStop is likely their most recent project, The Order: 1886, although it was a visual marvel, the title was received poorly overall by reviewers.
It's unlikely that Ready at Dawn and GameStop's game will be of the same scale as The Order: 1886, given the fact that there was a short turnaround since the team's last game and reported efforts on several concurrent projects. The Chief Technology Officer and founder of Ready at Dawn, Andrea Pessino said last year that this is the "most fun I've ever had making game." Hopefully next week this will result with a closer look at what the fun is all about, which it can't be worse than almost four years of work on The Order: 1886.
More news on Ready at Dawn's new game are coming next week, published as part of GameStop's GameTrust partnership program.
