Red Faction Might Be Coming to PS4
-----------Europe's PEGI system revealed a rating for Red Faction for PlayStation 4, indicating that the game is most likely coming to the console as a port or remaster.
Users on NeoGAF forum have found out that the Pan European Game Information rating system, PEGI, has lately issued a rating for Red Faction. PEGI has given the game a PEGI 16 rating because of the violence, indicating that it's suitable for gamers over the age of 16. Although the ESRB - the American equivalent - has yet to follow suit, it's a good sign that the game might be ported or remastered for the PlayStation 4. However, without an official confirmation from THQ Nordic, it remains to be seen as to when the game may be coming and whether it's just going to be a port or a full-fledged remastered game.
With the original Red Faction hitting its 15 year anniversary, the time is perfect for it to be re-released. Regardless of its age, the game has been cleared by Germany recently, which eventually removed it from its list of media considered harmful to the young. Nordic didn't do anything with the rights to Red Faction since they've acquired it in 2013 after THQ went bankrupt. However, THQ Nordic has showed interest in making additional content or new games extending the Red Faction series, which hasn't seen an entry since 2011, when Red Faction: Armageddon failed.
As stated by the original developer Volition, the Red Faction series ended because of poor sales. It's still a mystery as to whether Nordic will go forward with plans to create a new entry to the series, but re-releasing the original game that started it out might stimulate interest enough to make it a worthwile venture for the company. Fans have also showed their desire for more Red Faction, starting a petition asking for Volition and later THQ Nordic to not give up on the series. Since then, Volition made a public announcement that it won't be working on any more Red Faction games, but spokesperson Dan Cermak stated that the company thought the game was in good hands with THQ Nordic.
