Resident Evil 7's Trailer Focuses on New Combat

Resident Evil 7's new short trailer features Ethan fighting a member of the Baker family with a pistol, with terrifying results.

Capcom's Resident Evil 7 reveal was extremely enigmatic, and now, the mystery surrounding the supernatural family, Baker remains. Although, Capcom is releasing trailers that show off small snippets of exactly what gamers can expect. The latest trailer reveals the game's combat against a member of the Baker family.

The latest volume of the Resident Evil 7 teasers is entitled The Immortal, which fits the game. The trailer shows a scene of the protagonist Ethan who is already wounded from being battered several times by Jack Baker, who is the patriarch of the cannibalistic Baker family. Baker doesn't react at all to the first shot Ethan fires at him, but before he goes for the final blow, Ethan fires another, which kills Baker. This is futile though, as Baker gets back up minutes later, unharmed and angrier than before.

The trailer shows just how the first person combat in Resident Evil 7 works and it's another demonstration that the Baker family is everything else but normal. Additionally to the cannibalistic habits, it looks like Jack Baker will keep getting up after the players uses the limited weaponry that is in the game. This will only add to the tension the Baker family will provide, considering that they are looked upon as unbeatable based on the VR Resident Evil 7 demos that have been released so far. Baker family members were shown to be able to withstand exploding cars, so gamers will have to find out for themselves the way to beat them, if there is one.

This is not the first time that an enemy has appeared to be unbeatable, and if Resident Evil 7 follows the classic formula, Ethan will be able to defeat the Bakers once and for all once they discover their weakness. Now, the weapons in the game should not be considered useless as Capcom already stated that zombie-like enemies will appear in Resident Evil 7, which will be more sustainable to weapons. The decision of whether or not to preserve weapons on zombies for the Baker clan will be one of the most difficult ones players will have to choose in the game.

Three months remain until Resident Evil 7 officially comes out and Capcom is doing an extraordinary job of building excitement over the game without revealing too much. Most fans are already dreading their encounter with the Baker family, and learning that Jack Baker can get through everything is intensifying that anxiety.
