Road Redemption Release Date Announced

PixelDash/EQ-Games have announced the release date and further details for Road Redemption, the upcoming spiritual successor to '90s motorcycle racing hit Road Rash.

Developer PixelDash and publisher EQ-Games have revealed more details for their upcoming game this week, called Road Redemption, which also includes the game's release date. EQ-Games' Ian Fisch has put out a press release about the Kickstarter funded combat racer, which detailed that the game will make its way to PC, Mac, and Linux on October 15 this year, followed by Xbox One and PS4 versions available January 15, 2017.

Road Redemption, which is being said to be a spiritual successor to the '90s classic Road Rush, was originally scheduled to launch in August of 2014, but the game's delay was later explained by Fisch. He said that since the backers could access regularly-patched PC, Mac, and Linux beta versions of the game, they wouldn't want to rush it, instead take things slow and release something great that won't feel pressured by their 2014 Kickstarter date, which will result with a mediocre product.

Fisch then continued on, explaining how the company wanted to avoid the fate of recent Kickstarter disappointments, saying that they've seen how Kickstarted games like Armikrog and Mighty No. 9 released before they were ready, and how unsatisfying that is for everyone.

Fisch is right to be cautious of delivering an unfinished product, as the mostly negative reviews for Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9, which made over $3 million on Kickstarter, shows.

Up to this point, it appears that the strategy for Road Redemption has paid off, which sold over 100,000 copies while in Early Access on Steam. The game currently has a "Recent Review Score" of 93% from Steam users. At least gamers will have the ability to play as Shovel Knight on a motorcycle in a couple of months from now.

Road Redemption launches on October 15 this year for PC, Mac, and Linux. Xbox One and PS4 versions will arrive in January 15, 2017.
